Adele

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was born on May 5, 1988 in Tottenham, London

Her first public singing performance was in a school presentation where she sang "Rise" by Gabrielle.

When she got her first record deal, Adele made just one change to her smoking habit: she moved from roll-up cigarettes to Marlboro Lights.

One of the executive producers told Adele to lose weight. But she replied: "I write music for ears; not eyes."

Adele was the first winner of the Brit Awards Critics' Choice in 2008.

Adele's first three albums were titled 19, 21 and 25, named for how old she was when she wrote them. The first one chronicles the rise and fall of her first serious relationship, the next one tells the story of the next guy she fell in love with, which also didn't end well. The third is about making up for lost time and getting to know who she's become without realizing.

21 was the first album to sell more than three million copies in the UK in one calendar year.  On March 3, 2011 i
t broke the record for the most weeks for a solo female artist at #1 in the UK with 21. It spent 23 weeks at the top spot in total. In the United States, it held the top position for 24 weeks, longer than any other album since 1985 and the longest by a female solo artist in Billboard 200 history.

"Someone Like You" was the first single of the 2010s to sell over one million copies in the UK.

Adele's wiener dachshund named Louis Armstrong was her constant companion during her 2011 tour.

Adele joked in an interview with GMTV that the album was named "19" after her weight in stones.

Her song "Daydreamer" is about her falling for a bi male friend.

Adele sold 4.3% of all UK albums in 2011.

Adele had been smoking an average of 25 cigarettes per day when she lost her voice because of a recurrent vocal cord hemorrhage, and had to cancel tour dates in 2011. After she underwent surgery, Adele gave up smoking.

Adele's title song for 2012's Skyfall is the only James Bond theme tune to nab the Oscar for best original song. It also won a Grammy, Golden Globe and Critics' Choice Award.

When Adele needed to cry during the filming of the video for "Hello" she played Labrinth's 2014 single "Jealous.""You could play it at my kid's birthday and I'd burst into tears," she said.

"Hello" shifted 1.1 million downloads in its first seven days in the US, becoming the first song ever to sell over a million downloads in a week.

Adele's 25 album sold 3.3 million copies in its first seven days of release in the US, setting a new record for the biggest ever single sales week.

Adele is so terrified of performing live that she worries she won't make it to old age because she spends so much time stressing out.

Adele has admitted that although vomiting prior to her gigs can be a problem, she sees it as a good luck charm as it often guarantees a great performance.

Most fans pronounce Adele's name as "ah-dell", but the correct pronunciation is "uh-dale."

She began dating charity entrepreneur Simon Konecki in the summer of 2011. Adele had a son, Angelo, with him the following year. The couple married in 2017, but Adele filed for divorce two years later.

According to Q magazine, Adele is the 80,074,864,696th person to have lived since history began.
