Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling was born on November 12, 1980 at St. Joseph's Hospital in London, Ontario. Pop star Justin Bieber and Notebook co-star Rachel McAdams also first entered this world at the same hospital.

In 1993 at the age of 12, he won a place in the Mickey Mouse Club, and was shipped off to Florida for two years.

Gosling became friends with Justin Timberlake, whose mother was made his legal guardian, while he was living so far from home.

When the show ended, Gosling moved back to Canada. AJ McLean asked his former neighbor Ryan Gosling to join the Backstreet Boys in their early days but he turned the opportunity down, saying, "Didn't they already do that with New Kids? You're a little late..."

When the group began to top the charts, Gosling changed his mind, only for McLean to never return his call.

By 19, Gosling had decided he was going to be a serious actor. His big break came in 2002 thriller Murder By Numbers.

Gosling not only chose the 1973 Chevy Maibu that he drives in the crime thriller Drive, he also took it apart and rebuilt it to prepare for the role,

He gained 60 pounds by drinking melted Haagen Dazs ice cream to play the father in Peter Jackson's movie The Lovely Bones. He was then told he was too fat to play the part and the role went to Mark Wahlberg.

Ryan Gosling was cast in the movie The Notebook because the director was looking for someone that was "not handsome" and "not cool."

Contrary to their love story in the film, or their eventual real life romance, Ryan Gosling and his female co-star Rachel McAdams did not get on while filming The Notebook.

Gosling's first attempt at writing and directing, 2014's Lost River, garnered mixed reviews.

In September 2014, his partner, Eva Mendes, gave birth to the couple's first child, Esmeralda.

Ryan Gosling once bought out a whole girl scout cookie stand and handed them out to strangers on the street.

Ryan Gosling is an anagram of "angry losing" or "any song girl."
