Museum

We get the word ‘museum’ from the Ancient Greeks, who built Musaeums, places holy to the goddesses of art and science, the Muses.

HISTORY

Princess Ennigaldi, daughter of the last Neo-Babylonian king Nabonidus, created the world's first museum in around 530 BC. Ennigaldi-Nanna's Museum was a collection of antiquities, dating back to 20th century BC, labeling descriptions in three languages for patrons. It was located in the state of Ur, located in the modern-day Dhi Qar Governorate of Iraq, roughly 150 metres (490 ft) southeast of the famous Ziggurat of Ur.
