Wedding rings are worn on the fourth finger of the left hand because the Romans believed that a nerve led directly from there to the heart.

On April 18, 1963, at the New York University Medical Center, Dr. James Campbell performed a pioneering human nerve transplant. The recipient was a 25-year-old woman who had lost the use of her right arm in a car accident. Dr. Campbell utilized a nerve from her leg to restore some functionality to her arm. 

Nerve transplants are a complex and challenging procedure, but they have the potential to restore function to people who have lost the use of limbs or other body parts. Dr. Campbell's work was a major breakthrough in the field of nerve repair, and it has helped to improve the lives of many people.

There are 45 miles of nerves in the skin of a human being.

Nerve impulses to and from the brain can travel as fast as 170 miles an hour.

Scientists have figured out that the speed of nerve impulses within the brain is 275 miles per hour. If an idea is complex enough to take 100 nerve messages from one side of the brain to the other, the thought could be completed in less than a tenth of a second.
